El Paso Chihuahuas pick up top rated prospect

Top rated MLB prospect Francisco Mejia was traded to the Padres organization recently so the dogs are getting some extra fire power for the second half of the season.

He didn’t play Sunday but look for him in the coming week.

ABC-7 caught up with Mejia earlier today.

Some of the questions asked were, what was it like during your 50 game hitting streak last year and what do you plan on bringing to the team this year?

Mejia responded, “nothing about it, forty games, yeah my mom called me like, you have 40 games. It was every where, social media. Then my agent called me and said keep doing what you’re doing, don’t listen to anybody.”

When we asked him what he was going to be bringing to the table Mejia replied, “They say about hitting, I hit it good but, Im going to bring great defense behind the plate and going to help pitchers out a lot.”
