Retrial begins Friday for El Paso man accused of killing Border Patrol agent
Court documents show that the murder trial for Hisaias Justo Lopez is scheduled to begin Friday.
His first trial ended in a mistrial back in April. The jury couldn’t come to a decision over whether Lopez killed an off-duty Border Patrol agent by stabbing him in the eye after a bar fight with Isaac Morales in May 2017.
An affidavit states Lopez flashed a knife at Morales and his girlfriend in the parking lot before the fight.
Documents state the fight ended when Lopez stabbed Morales in the eye.
Morales died from his injuries.
