Chihuahuas beat OKC in series opener Friday night

The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, but would not cross home plate again as the Chihuahuas rallied for an 8-2 win in their series opener Friday night on the road.

Diego Goris hit a grand slam in the top of the sixth inning to account for half of his team’s runs in the game.

Javy Guerra had a stellar evening for the Dogs as well, going 4-4 at the plate with three singles and a double.

That helped the Chihuahuas double OKC’s hit total on the evening, 12-6.

The Chihuahuas improved to 56-48 overall with the win and maintained their half-game lead over Salt Lake in their division.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers fell to 57-45 but still lead their own division by two games over Colorado Springs.

The two teams will meet three more times over the course of the next three days.

The Chihuahuas will return home on Wednesday, Aug. 1 to begin a three-game series against New Orleans.
