El Paso Sheriff’s respond to three-vehicle accident in far east El Paso

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a three-vehicle accident early Saturday morning at I-10 east and mile marker 46.

According to Sheriff’s, a minivan was traveling eastbound on I-10 when it suffered a tire blowout causing it to rollover and come to rest on its side. Passersby were attempting to render aid when the minivan was struck due to unknown reasons by tractor-trailer combo traveling eastbound on I-10.

The tractor-trailer then crossed the cable median on to westbound lanes of I-10 before coming to rest on the unimproved shoulder. The third vehicle was traveling westbound on I-10 when it was struck by a portion of the cable median.

Five people were transported to a local area hospital and are currently in stable condition.

Special Traffic Investigators and Crime Scene Investigators were requested at the scene.

Both east and westbound lanes of I-10 at mile marker 46 are reduced to one lane to allow for clearing for approximately one more hour.
