Las Cruces girl collects water for postal workers

With temperatures continually to climb in the Borderland, one Las Cruces girl is collecting water to help postal workers.

“I thought that since they work hard for us, I thought that we should help them by giving them water,” said Heidi Vacio, who is eight years old.

Vacio is entering the third grade at Mesilla Valley Christian School this fall.

“I got blessed with her,” said her mother, Angelica Vacio. “She’s a really good child. She listens very well. She’s loving and she’s always thinking of others.”

Heidi has a Facebook group called “Heidi’s Helping Hands” where she solicits donations to help postal workers and those in the Las Cruces community without a home.

“I don’t want them hot in the heat,” she told ABC-7.

Those interested in helping can join the Facebook group or call Angelica Vacio at 575-590-3004.
