El Paso Fire Department warns residents of phone scam

An individual or individuals are scamming residents in the El Paso area by asking for donations claiming to be The El Paso Fire Department the El Paso Firefighters Association Local 51 ‘

The El Paso Fire Department said the calls are not associated with either organizations.

“Neither the EPFD nor Local 51 make phone calls to solicit donations,” EPFD Spokesman Enrique D. Aguilar said in a statement.

The El Paso Fire Department asks individuals who receive or have been receiving a phone call asking for donations in their name or the El Paso Firefighters Association Local 51 to not provide any personal or financial information and hang up.

People who have donated money should contact the El Paso Police Department at 915-832-4400 to file a report.
