ABC-7 Xtra: School threats in El Paso causing major safety concerns
A couple of threats to El Paso schools this week caused some major safety concerns around the community.
On Wednesday, ABC-7 broke the story of an 18-year-old man who allegedly posted a threat on a social media account.
El Paso’s FBI department said, Dallas Carrera, posted a picture of a box full of empty assault rifle magazines with the caption “Don’t come to school tomorrow.”
He remains in federal custody.
And on Friday, Eastlake High School issued a lockdown after school officials said the administration had received “reports of a threatening message posted on social media.”
According to the Socorro Independent School District, police quickly identified and located the student who posted the message.
Police warn anyone who comes across a school threat on social media to not share it. Instead to inform police about any possible threats.
On ABC-7 Xrtra, host Saul Saenz will talk to Jose Castorena of the Socorro Independent School District, Chief Victor Araiza with the El Paso Independent School District and J.R. Martinez, Chief of Security and Safety for the Ysleta Independent School District.
