NMSU loses first game of the season

The NMSU Aggies took on the Wyoming Cowboys for their first game of the season over the weekend.

What seemed to be an up-and-coming football program after going to their first bowl game in 57 years quickly turned into a lesson of what happened last year doesn’t matter this year.

The Cowboys scored a rushing touchdown, a safety and also hit a field goal all in the first quarter.

Running back Nico Evans gashed the Aggies for 204 yards and two touchdowns.

The Aggies had a total of -9 yards for the game with new quarterback Matt Romero running for -31.

NMSU did put up a touchdown late in the fourth quarter as Romero hit Drew Dan for six.

New Mexico State University will play Minnesota next on August 30.
