Border Patrol agents near Las Cruces arrest two in connection to Florida homicide

U.S. Border Patrol Agents working at a checkpoint outside of Las Cruces have arrested a pair wanted in connection to a possible homicide in Florida.

Arthur Ross Miller, 36, and Vivian Gutierrez, 32, were both arrested at the checkpoint along I-25 north of Las Cruces on Sunday, September 30th.

According to agents, the registration for the 2001 Ford Taurus the two suspects were driving in gave an alert for a “missing person.” The vehicle was then referred to a secondary inspection, where officers ran the biographical and biometric information the two occupants.

Miller and Gutierrez were revealed to have arrest warrants from Citrus County Florida in connection to a possible homicide. Both were immediately taken into custody and the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the arrests.

An extraditable warrant was issued the following day, while detectives responding to the area processed the vehicle and conducted interviews.

Miller and Gutierrez remain in custody at the Dona Ana County Jail as they await extradition to Florida. Both have been charged with adult neglect and abuse of a body.
