Americas beats Pebble Hills, 39-21, Thursday night at the SAC

The Pebble Hills Spartans had no answer for Americas running back Aaron Dumas Thursday, as the Blazers picked up a key 39-21 district win.

Dumas ran for three touchdowns in the first half to help his team overcome an early 7-0 deficit en route to their fifth win of the season (5-3).

Both Americas and Pebble Hills are now 2-1 in district play after Thursday’s game.

Americas trailed 14-7 in the second quarter when Dumas broke free for a long touchdown run that would tie the game.

The Spartans, on the previous possession, opted to attempt a fake field goal rather than put three points on the board, which would have given them a ten-point lead. That attempt failed and Dumas made them pay for that mistake.

The Blazers then added two more quick touchdowns to take a 27-14 lead, and they never looked back from there.

Americas will close out the regular season with games against Coronado and Montwood while the Spartans still have games against Franklin and Coronado on their slate.

Thursday’s result means that Franklin is the only 1-6A team without a district loss at 2-0. The Cougars will look to stay perfect in league action Friday night at home against Montwood.
