Americans are expected to spend at least $9 billion on Halloween

A large number of parents admitted to stealing candy from their kids on Halloween.

In fact, 72 percent came clean on thieving from their trick-or-treaters.

That statistic is among many others recently reported by financial website Wallethub.com.

The site says Americans are expected to spend $9 billion for the spooky holiday. $3.2 billion of that will be for costumes and $2.6 billion is on candy alone.

Overall, $300 million is made from ticket sales at haunted attractions, with 80 percent run by charities.

36 percent of parents told Wallethub they think age 12 or 13 is old enough to trick-or-treat alone. And they will be joining more than 41 million trick-or-treaters nationwide. Halloween participants were first saying the phrase “trick-or-treat” in 1927. And trick-or-treaters will be lucky as 70 percent of Americans plan on giving out candy to ghouls and goblins running through neighborhoods.
