Alamo Drafthouse to open 2nd location in El Paso

The new Alamo Drafthouse in Far East El Paso will be part of “Monteverde,” an upcoming 30-acre mixed use development at Loop 375 and Pellicano in Far East El Paso.

The new movie theater will include 10 screens with nearly 1,000 luxury seat recliners, digital 4K projection and “dynamic surround sound.”

It is expected to open in early 2020 and will feature “The Big Show,” described as Alamo Drafthouse’s “Large Format Theater concept that showcases the very best presentation available today, including Dolby Atmos sound technology and the largest screens in the brand.”

The Alamo Drafthouse said it would hire about 200 people to work at its new theater. “It takes a lot of people to run one of these Alamos because the one on the East Side will be bigger,” said Alamo Drafthouse Cinema CEO Neil Billingsley Michaelson, “We’ll have even more employees, so our target is probably right around 200 employees that we’ll be hiring for the East Side location.”
