Las Cruces breaks record for largest amount of nachos

It was “Noche de Nachos” in Downtown Las Cruces where organizers broke the world record for the most amount of nachos.

Organizers say the total weight of the nachos added up to 5,309 pounds and was 110 feet long. The previous world record was 4,689.

The nachos consisted of 900 tortilla chips, 450 pounds of salsa 2,200 pounds of cheese, 200 pounds of meat, 330 pounds of tomato and 600 pounds of cooked pinto beans.

Organizers also said that the food that was leftover was donated to local firefighters, Las Cruces Police and Las Cruces Gospel Rescue Mission.
