One of two drivers charged with DWI in accident pleads not guilty

One of the drivers accused in the serious crash that left two Franklin High School students critically injured appeared before a judge on Monday.

28-year old James Furman and 17-year old Pablo Payan were both charged with DWI. Police say Payan ran a stop sign and hit Furman’s vehicle.

In a Las Cruces courtroom Monday morning, Furman pleaded not guilty.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for January 22.
