UTEP linebacker A.J. Hotchkins selected to C-USA second team

UTEP senior linebacker A.J. Hotchkins was named to the All-Conference USA second team on Tuesday.

The Oregon transfer finished the season with 126 total tackles, which was tied for the league lead. He also paced the Miners with seven sacks.

Hotchkins finished 17th nationally in tackles per game with 10.5 in his lone season with UTEP. He posted a career-high 15 total tackles in the team’s game against UAB.

Several other Miners were named C-USA honorable mentions, the league announced Tuesday.

On offense, Winston Dimel, Bobby DeHaro and David Lucero were recognized. On defense, Chris Richardson, Jamar Smith and Nik Needham garnered a spot on the honorable mention list. Punter Mitchell Crawford was the lone Miner on special teams.

UTEP finished the 2018 season with a record of 1-11 with their lone win coming on the road at Rice.
