UTEP gets first win in C-USA Play by defeating Southern Miss, 76-64
It was just what the doctor ordered for the UTEP Miners.
Thursday night at the Don Haskins Center, UTEP defeated Southern Mississippi by a final score of 76-64.
It was UTEP's first win in Conference USA play and it improved the Miners' record to 10-6 on the season.
Entering the day, the Miners were on a 3 game losing streak.
A week ago the team faced some adversity.
Nigel Hawkins and Jordan Lathan entered the transfer portal only to have second thoughts and return to the team.
Then UTEP head coach Rodney Terry ended up in a Miami Hospital following an allergic food reaction.
Despite all those setback, the Miners found a way to put it all together Thursday night and get the much needed victory.
Not their attention turns to another home conference game against Louisiana Tech on Saturday.
