LCPD: Man touched girl inappropriately after a night of drinking

Police arrested a Las Cruces man accused of inappropriately touching an underage teenager.

Damien Guynes, 23, is charged with one count of criminal sexual contact of a minor.

The alleged touching happened late on Thursday, December 6th or during the early-morning hours of Friday, December 7th, El Paso Police said.

Guynes was drinking alcohol with others inside a home in Las Cruces. The accuser told investigators Guynes entered her room and climbed into bed with her. The girl told investigators she was scared and pretended to be asleep as Guynes allegedly touched her.

The girl reported the incident to a school counselor the next day, prompting the investigation by police and the state’s Children, Youth and Families Department.

When Guynes spoke with police, he allegedly corroborated the girl’s account and indicated he left the room when he realized what he was doing.

Guynes was arrested Friday evening and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center. He has since been released on bond.
