Chapin volleyball star Amber Soto signs with Air Force
Chapin volleyball star Amber Soto helped the Huskies soar to incredible heights, and now her college career will take flight at Air Force.
Soto signed her national letter of intent Thursday afternoon in the Chapin gym in front of friends, family, teammates, and coaches.
“I’ve always wanted to be in the military, and the Air Force just drew me in as soon as I went on my official visit there,” said Soto.
The senior setter captained Chapin to an overall record of 31-6 last season including a perfect 16-0 mark in district play.
The Huskies also defeated Hanks in the first round of the 5A state playoffs to claim another trophy as bidistrict champions.
And while Chapin will certainly miss her, she says she’ll miss the school as well.
“It has meant a lot to me. It was a great experience. I learned so much from my teammates, my coaches, and the atmosphere really changed me to become a better person,” she said.
Soto added that her plans at Air Force involve much more than simply succeeding on the volleyball court.
“I really want to major in geospatial science, and I can’t wait to serve after. So, I really want to do that and just make it big in the Air Force,” said Soto.
