UTEP plays Wyoming in the consolation game

UTEP took on Wyoming at the Don Haskins Center in the consolation game of the Sun Bowl Invitational.

First half of the game the senior Paul Thomas gets the ball and sees Effie Odigie down low. Odigie gets the pill and drops it in.

Miners playing defense! Jordan Lathon in the right place and the right time gets the block then sends it the other way.

Later in the first half Nigel Hawkins gets it to Thomas who gives it to Ountae Campbell who then passes it to the scorer, Evan Gillyard for the three!

To the second half we go, AJ Banks looking for someone to get open when he sees Justin James open for the no look bounce pass and James slams it down with authority!!!!

Still in the second, Thomas gets the ball in the paint but sees his boy Evan Gillyard wide open for three so the leader gives the scorer the ball and that’s how magic happens!

After a missed three Wyoming gets their own rebound, Hunter Thompson gets the rock down low, makes some space and scores.

Would be too little too late though as the Miners go out on the winning side of things. UTEP had 5 players in double digits. Gillyard had 20 points leading the team. The Miners win 76 to 65.

This is what Coach Terry had to say after the game, “Wyoming is a team that really puts a lot of pressure on you defensively and offensively as a shooting team.”
