Quarterback Alex Delton backs out of UTEP commitment and chooses TCU
Former Kansas State quarterback Alex Delton is not headed to UTEP after all.
Delton tweeted that he would be transferring to UTEP on Dec. 27, but he has apparently already changed his mind.
Delton tweeted again Tuesday that he had a change of heart and will instead spend his final year of college football with TCU.
“Man I am so blessed for what I’ve learned through this game and how it has shaped me,” he posted via Twitter. “I’m proud of what I’ve done, but I am not done yet…Change of plans. I will be finishing my final year at TCU. Excited to get started!”
Delton racked up 734 rushing yards and 1,191 through the air as a part-time starter for the Wildcats over the past two seasons.
He previously played under UTEP head coach Dana Dimel when Dimel was the offensive coordinator at Kansas State.
Delton also recorded eight touchdowns on the ground and 500 yards rushing in 2017 before briefly becoming the starter in 2018.
He would eventually lose the starting job at K-State to Skylar Thompson early in the 2018 campaign.
