City Council goes on the road, holds meeting away from City Hall

City Council is going on the road.

The eight representatives and mayor are holding their upcoming meeting outside City Hall in an effort to reach El Paso residents where they are.

On Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 4 p.m., the council will be meeting at the El Paso County 911 District, at 6055 Threadgill Avenue in the northeast side of town.

City officials hope moving the meetings to different parts of town will increase participation in municipal government by the community.

“This is a great opportunity for the residents of the northeast to attend a City Council meeting in their neighborhood,” El Paso Mayor Dee Margo said in a news release announcing the move.

City Council meetings are normally held at 9 a.m. every other Tuesday downtown at City Hall, at 300 North Campbell Street and are open to the public.
