Man sentenced to probation after hitting local DJ
The man accused of severely injuring a popular local DJ in a hit-and-run has reached a plea agreement.
Pedro Manuel Reyes will serve six months in jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Reyes was also sentenced to 10 years of probation for the charge of accident involving serious injury.
Reyes is accused of hitting Christian Ortiz, also known as DJ Swift, behind a bar in Central El Paso and leaving the scene.
The life-threatening incident happened in August of 2018 and was caught on the surveillance camera of a nearby business. Video showed a truck strike Swift as he stood by a car in an alleyway in the Five Points area, then roll off, leaving Swift on the ground.
Ortiz has since recovered from his injuries.
