The Borderland’s best wrestlers arrive home

El Paso’s best wrestlers arrived home Sunday after a battle with the greatest in their weight class at the state meet.

Over a period of two grueling days, they laid on the line every ounce of strength and courage their bodies would allow.

Some brought home hardware while those who didn’t still gained a memory that can be used to motivate them in the upcoming year.

The Hanks High School girls wrestling team won their sixth straight UIL state wrestling championship to keep their dynasty going.

There were also state champions from other El Paso schools like Eastwood’s Danielle Saldivar, who simply said, “It’s amazing,” when describing the feeling of coming home with a gold medal.
