UPDATE: Power restored in Lower Valley

Power has been restored to nearly 800 homes in the Lower Valley Tuesday morning after an overnight outage, according to El Paso Electric.

YISD is still delaying school start time by two hours at Hacienda Heights International School. Classes now start at 9:45 a.m.

Chris Lechuga, a district spokesman, asked parents to not drop students off at the normal time, because administraters are also on a two-hour delay and will not be able to hold them.

Hundreds of nearby homes were without power for hours Tuesday morning.

The power outage was reported shortly before 2 a.m. in the Lower Valley, near the El Paso Community College Valle Verde campus and Bel Air High School. Those schools did not appear to be affected.

The map showing the outage on the El Paso Electric website says 759 customers were affected.

El Paso Electric did not report what caused the outage.
