Pediatrician prepares parents with infant CPR
An El Paso pediatrician is taking steps to teach local parents how to save their kids from a sudden choking situation.
Doctor Rana Kronfol hopes to empower parents by teaching them the newest and safest techniques regarding infant CPR.
El Paso Pediatric Associates hosts the class in which parents practice together and learn the basics of CPR and choking resuscitation.
“We also learn how to do mouth to mouth resuscitation for the baby,” said Doctor Kronfol. “Learning when to do it and what steps you have to take. A lot of times we take for granted that someone is going to call 911. We go over how important it is to make sure you make eye contact with someone who will actually go and call 911.”
Choking emergencies end the life of at least 1 child every 5 days with over 12,000 kids ending up in emergency rooms from choking accidents each year.
