Armando Martinez, 78, was struck in the parking lot outside the TKO Bar at 10108 McCombs. Police said Martinez died on March 5, 2019 as a result of the head injury he sustained.
At about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019, a fight had broke out in the parking lot next to the TKO bar.
Police said two men were walking out of the bar and were mistakenly attacked by those allegedly involved in the parking lot fight.
One of the men, a 29-year-old, was struck in the head with a hatchet, causing him to fall to the ground.
At that point, Martinez yelled at the men who attacked the 29-year-old as they were fleeing.
Police said the suspects entered a red pickup truck and drove in the direction of Martinez, striking him and causing him to suffer the fatal head injury. The 29-year-old struck in the head with a hatchet did not require hospitalization, police said.
