Texas voters could soon decide the fate of daylight saving time

The Texas house of representatives has passed two bills that would end twice a year time changes. House joint resolution 117 allows voters to weigh in on the issue of daylight saving time. The second ballot question would ask voters preference between standard or daylight time.

Owner of The Clock Manor Trudy Nelson says this makes sense for antique clock owners. Nelson says “I think we would have a lot fewer problems with people who really aren’t familiar with the clocks they own.”

This is the closest the Texas Legislature has been to taking action on the issue. The bills now move to the Texas Senate. If passed voters would decide the fate of daylight saving time on November 5th. This is two days after clocks need to be set an hour backward.
