Trump campaign spokesman: We’re “confident the president will be re-elected”
In his first visit to El Paso, a spokesman for the Trump 2020 campaign told reporters he is confident that the president will win re-election.
“He’s got such great results,” said Marc Lotter, the Director of Strategic Communications for the Trump campaign. “Every day, people are starting to feel it.”
Lotter credited El Paso’s border wall with keeping the city safe.
“That protection is able to make El Paso one of the safest cities,” Lotter said. “It’s also because of great police work.”
His statement echoed President Donald Trump.
“Walls work,” President Trump said in February. “Walls save lives.”
However, a former Border Patrol Chief in the El Paso Sector credits the Hold the Line initiative with reducing crime in the Borderland.
“‪It’s very frustrating to have someone at that level who could misrepresent what actually goes on,” Silvestre Reyes said in February.
ABC-7 also asked: When does the Trump campaign plan to pay the $470,000 invoice from the city of El Paso following the February rally at the El Paso County Coliseum?
“I’m not sure about that,” Lotter said. “I’ll have to check with the accounting folks on that – on when that – about those bills. That’s not something that I’m aware of.”
