UPDATE: Power restored after more than 1,300 customers left in blackout

UPDATE 5:45 a.m.: El Paso Electric crews have restored power.

ORIGINAL STORY: More than 1,300 El Paso Electric customers were reportedly without power Monday morning, according to the utility’s outage map.

The outage appears to have broken out around the Giles Rd. and Phoenix Ave area south of I-10.

El Paso Electric spokesman George de la Torre told ABC-7 he heard reports that a vehicle hit a pole in the area, causing the outage.

EPE crews arrived to the scene to work on restoring power.

According to the outage map, the power was reportedly out around 4:20 a.m.
