El Paso football fans, businesses enjoy Super Bowl LIV

EL PASO, Texas -- Millions of Americas tuned in to watch Super Bowl LIV as the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the San Francisco 49ers.

"We went to see them this passed November loved the game," said 49ers fan Perla Haro. "I mean we go see them once a year."

“I was there from opening season at Levi's Stadium and I’m still there,” said another 49ers fan Marcy Macias-Belcher.

Chiefs fan Ethan Ralph told ABC-7 he's been a Chief's fan his whole life. "I've been a Chief's fan since I was like six or seven when Joe Montana was traded to the Chiefs,” Ralph said.

For local businesses it was a chance to bring in money. Manager of Brass Monkey, a sports bar in west El Paso said sales typically go up during big sporting events like the Super Bowl. "We usually order more than we usually would for a regular weekend as far as liquor, beer, just so we can be ready for people," Morales said.

Morales added, however business was a bit slower compared to last year. Manager at the Pizza Joint in Downtown El Paso, Taylor Wilke agreed.

"We don’t do deliveries (like our other locations) I think that might be why, but we’ve have a couple pick up orders that were kind of large,” Wilke said.

Wilke said that other Pizza Joint locations are closer to residential areas, where typically most Super Bowl parties are held.

Aceitunas Beer Garden, a bar in west El Paso, is typically closed during the winter, but managers decided to host a small potluck for family, friends, and regular customers.

Whether football fans went out to bar to enjoy the game, or to a potluck like the one at Aceitunas, many agreed it's all about spending time with the one's you love.

"Being with friends I think thats what makes it the best,” said Macias-Belcher
