NMSU plans to host virtual May commencement due to virus

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- Due to coronavirus concerns, New Mexico State University moved classes and operations online. Now, the university is working to host a virtual commencement this May.

NMSU President John Floros made the announcement during a virtual town hall meeting Thursday afternoon.

"We will have a virtual commencement, we're not exactly sure about the timing yet," Floros said. "It's going to be sometime this May."

Floros added administration is also working on an option to allow students who want to physically walk across the stage may do so during December commencement.

More details on NMSU's virtual commencement are expected to be released later this week.

The university also addressed issuing refunds to students who live on campus and have purchased meal plans as best they can.
