Foul odor coming from car in east El Paso motel parking lot leads police to think body may be inside
A “foul odor emitting” from a car parked outside an east El Paso motel may be that of a dead person inside, police said before towing the car away Tuesday night.
The discovery occurred during the afternoon at the El Paso Inn, at 6210 Montana Avenue.
Authorities indicated they believed a body was inside the trunk of the vehicle, and suggested the death was suspicious.
A police spokesman at the scene said no one had been taken into custody as yet. He indicated that investigators were trying to find out who the owner of the vehicle is, and determine how long it had been parked at the motel.
Police also indicated it was possible perhaps the odor was from a dead animal and not a person.
A police spokesman on Wednesday morning said there was no word yet from detectives on whether the trunk had been opened — or what was found inside.
