Thunderstorms blamed for causing scattered power outages across El Paso

El Paso Electric says thunderstorm activity is the reason hundreds of people were without power across El Paso on Tuesday night

The utility’s outage map showed various outages that are affecting more than 800 customers in areas scattered from Sunland Park to west El Paso and east El Paso to the Lower Valley.

One of the largest cluster of outages was in east El Paso power outage is affecting 377 customers. According to the map, power went out around 7 p.m. near Yarbrough and Vista Del Sol.

A spokesman for EPE said”scattered outages are reported throughout our service area” due to the weather.

There was no estimated time for power to be restored, but the spokesman said crews would work on the larger ones first and “don’t stop until power is restored to everyone.”
