Ex-cop Rivera cruises to easy re-election in EP District 7

EL PASO, Texas – City Council District 7 incumbent Henry Rivera crusied to an easy re-election against a political newcomer.

Rivera has tallied 12,101 votes or 56.56 percent.

Challenger Aaron Montes has 9,293 votes or 43.44 percent.

Rivera is a retired police officer who served for more than three decades in El Paso.

Montes is a former El Paso Times and El Paso Inc. journalist.

District 7 is in the Lower Valley.
