Two Albuquerque women drove to El Paso Monday to drop off donations collected for migrant children separated from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Money, clothes, hygiene products and toys appeared on the donation request Genevieve Garcia de Mueller posted, along with her friend Sara Saucedo, on Facebook June 26.

Monday, she posted a video on Facebook showing a living and dining room filled with items and boxes bound for the Annunciation House, more than 265 miles away in El Paso.

“We filled a flatbed truck, two SUVs and a car,” Garcia de Mueller posted above the video.

Donated money was dropped off at Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center to help pay for legal services for detained children.

“As a scholar who has done work in immigration policy and, more importantly, a human being who practices empathy, it’s my responsibility to use my resources to help in any way that I can and honor the work the community does,” Garcia de Mueller wrote on a Facebook post.
