OMAHA, Nebraska - The journey to get to the Olympics for El Pasoan Will Licon once again ended in heartbreak.

Thursday, at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha, Nebraska, Licon finished third in the final of the 200 meter breaststroke.

Only the top two finishers in the race move on to the Olympic games in Tokyo.

It was deja vu all over again for Licon, who in 2016 also missed qualifying for the Olympics in the 200 meter breaststroke after a third place finish.

In 2016, Licon missed the cut by just .14 seconds, in 2021 Licon misses out on going to Tokyo by .18 seconds.

Licon's third place time in the 200 meter breaststroke was 2:08.50.

He was bested by Nic Fink who won the race with a time of 2:07.55 and Andrew Wilson who took the second place spot with a time of 2:08.32.
