ABC-7 StormTRACK Weather: PM Storms, lower rain chances for the work week

Good Sunday morning to you. We are enjoying another wonderful morning to start your day, but it's going to get hot, and we have a chance for rain this afternoon. Today, we won't be seeing triple digits like we did in some places yesterday, but we will be in the mid to upper 90s across the board. Storms will initiate on the mountains before they make their way into the lowlands throughout the afternoon. Models are showing most of the heaviest rain in the northern portions of our region (Otero, Dona Ana counties primarily). Still, expect storms possible across the entire region throughout the rest of the DMA.

The storms today will be relying on other storm's outflow winds to be able to occur. We have plenty of moisture, but not a huge amount of instability (lift), in the atmosphere. Thus, storms will likely pop up primarily due to the outflows of other weakening storms.

Tomorrow, and for the rest of the work week we will see less rain overall. We will also have a bit of a cool down which will bring relief to us after several hot days in a row. We will be a few degrees below the average temp this time of year (95) for the work week. Have a happy Sunday!
