Police have yet to identify pedestrian hit on Loop 375 near UTEP
UPDATE (4/17): Police officials have yet to identify the man who died as a result of Saturday night's collision.
Initial investigation identified the driver of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado as 53-year-old Paul Barraza.
According to police, Barraza was traveling westbound near Executive Blvd when three unidentified men ran across the highway.
One unidentified pedestrian was struck by the Silverado, causing life threatening injuries.
Barraza remained at the scene and the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital but later died.
The two other pedestrians fled the scene.
This marks the 21st traffic fatality compared to 19 last year.
EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso police are investigating a collision between a pedestrian and a car on Loop 375 near UTEP's campus.
Fire dispatch confirmed that a male pedestrian was hit around 8 p.m. Saturday night. The condition of the man is unknown.
Police did say that one person was transported to the hospital, but they did not provide the condition of the person.
Traffic cameras showed there was a major backup in traffic in the westbound lanes of 375. Traffic is being diverted.
