ABC-7 Xtra: El Paso, Uvalde bonded by tragedy

EL PASO, Texas-In the days following the Uvalde shooting, Governor Greg Abbott was front and center holding news conferences.

El Paso had a similar visit after the Cielo Vista Walmart shooting. Governor Abbott came to El Paso to listen to our state legislative delegation, as well as the families of those shot on that day.

Wednesday, El Paso parents experienced the scare of an armed subject allegedly inside Bel Air High School on Thursday. Bel Air was placed on lockdown. After law enforcement responded, a search was conducted and students were cleared from the school. There were no injuries and no confirmed sighting of a subject with a gun according to police.

Despite the fact students were never under any threat, it was still a gut-wrenching moment for parents who rushed to the school waiting for the lockdown to be lifted and to be reunited with their children.

Parents told ABC-7 they arrived at the school with Uvalde on their minds, fearing the worst, but hoping for the best.

Sunday night on, ABC-7 Xtra, guests weigh in on promises made by Governor Greg Abbott when he visited El Paso in the days following the mass shooting at the Cielo Vista Walmart on August 3rd.
