Stuck semi-trailer and train collide in Fabens

UPDATE (4:05)- El Paso County Sheriff's responded to a serious semi-trailer and a train crash in Fabens Sunday.

The collision happened on the intersection of Austin St. and Island Road.

Officials told ABC-7, they arrived on the scene of a stuck semi-trailer on the railroad tracks. The trailer was carrying an oversized container.

Deputies called the Sheriff's office to alert them of an oncoming train. The train ended up colliding with the semi's flatbed and the container.

The container was cut in half.

The first engine of the train also derailed off the tracks.

No one was injured as a result of this incident. There was no other damage to the surrounding areas.

One neighbor told ABC-7 he saw the impact.

Investigators with Union Pacific are set to look into the incident. Road closures in the area could last up to 12 hours.

UPDATE - According to a press release from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, at around 11:20 a.m Sunday morning, a semi-truck jack knifed and was blocking traffic on I-10 westbound at mile marker 3.

The Sheriff's Office says the road is expected to be closed for another hour.

Our ABC-7 crews on scene were able to see that the train derailed from the tracks.

Traffic is being diverted to the Transmountain Exit.

FABENS, Texas - A spokesperson from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that officials are responding to a crash involving a semi-truck and a train in Fabens.

According to TXDOT, the collision happened at SH-20 at Fabens just before 12:30 p.m.

A spokesperson from the EL Paso County Sheriff's Office says that there are no injuries reported.

According to @EPPOLICETRAFFIC on Twitter, the clearing time is unknown.
