One dead after alleged wrong-way vehicle crashes into tractor-trailer

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- One person is dead after a vehicle allegedly driving the wrong way crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.

The crash happened near mile marker 56 on I-10 around 11 p.m. Sunday. The unnamed driver allegedly drove the wrong way in west-bound lanes.

Officials said the people that were in the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries, but did not say how many people were in the tractor-trailer.

The driver of the vehicle that was allegedly in the wrong lanes of traffic was found dead, and shortly after the vehicle caught fire.

Special Traffic Investigators were called to the scene to investigate.

Officials said no further information will be released on the driver, or the investigation, until the next of kin is notified.
