New vintage-style drive-in movie theater opens in central El Paso

EL PASO, Texas -- A new vintage-style drive-in movie theater gives El Pasoans a taste of what it was like to pull up to a movie night in the 1950s.

Blue Moon Drive-In opened their doors this month in central El Paso. They are a 50's style drive-in theater with a vintage look of a snack bar and original-style speakers next to each car, and only show movies from the 1960s and prior, a majority of those in the horror genre.

“They’re just the type of movies that I think grip the people and they have a great time with them,” Gary Monteleone, owner of Blue Moon, explained when asked why he shows mostly horror flicks.
