Risky behaviors when trying to be healthy

MGN

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Many are renewing their efforts to get as healthy as they can this year. However, in the process of incorporating healthy behaviors for good health, many people can create unhealthy habits.

People who feel pressure to stay in shape are at risk of developing what is called exercise addiction.

The same goes for those who are overweight and set out to lose an extreme amount of weight and may also be at risk of exercise addiction. It’s all about losing weight in a healthy way and finding a balance.

If you're just beginning to exercise, start cautiously and progress slowly. Many start exercising aggressively at the start and give up when their muscles and joints become sore or injured. Start gradually, and build up a routine.

Drinking fluids throughout the day is essential for maintaining healthy hydration levels. Hydrating after your workout can also help you recover and get you ready for the next day. Be sure to consume a balanced diet to support your fitness program.

Choose a diet that works for your lifestyle. The best diet and workout is the one you can stick with long-term. Use common sense, and listen to your body.
