El Paso Planned Parenthood launches “birth control for all” pilot program

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — Today El Paso Planned Parenthood launched it's birth control for all program. Planned Parenthood of El Paso said this initiative will expand access to birth control and essential reproductive care for women and men.

Planned Parenthood recieved over one million dollars in private donors support to launch this program.

Congresswoman Veronica Escobar said organizations like planned parenthood play a greater role in filling gaps women in El Paso are facing. "In a state like Texas and a community like El Paso wehre we already have a high rate of individuals without health insurance when you have the Federal government harming communities instead of helping communities, Organizations like Planned Parenthood play an even greater role in providing care and filling those gaps."

Escobar said she hopes that organizations like Planned Parenthood recieve support from the Federal Governemnt, but for now the Planned Parenthood and local leaders are grateful for the support they've recieved from private donors.

They are calling the initiave "TOMA control" Planned Parent hood said eligibility includes; not having health insurance and also being below the federal poverty line. They emphasized El Paso has high rates of uninsured and poverty, this initiative allows this demographic to have resources and choices.

" Sometimes you chose grocereies over your birth control, this is a way to minimize and mitigate at least in this one area, an area of concern, that you know folks can be thinking about or hesitating." Said Marina Monsisvais chair of Planned Parenthood Greater Texas.
