El Paso reports 4 new virus deaths; just 1 shy of 4,000 confirmed cases

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Department of Public Health reported four new coronavirus deaths and 51 new cases on Wednesday morning.

The death toll now stands at 113.

The latest victims were identified as a woman in her 40s, two women in their 60s and a man in his 70s.

There have now been 3,999 confirmed cases in El Paso County, with 2,914 recoveries. That leaves 972 active cases, a decrease from the day before.

Hospitalizations also jumped from 87 to 98. There are 52 patients in the ICU and 24 people are on ventilators.

In terms of hospital capacity, state officials have indicated that 31% of the El Paso area's 1,800 hospital beds are currently available.
