Sunday Funday Moment: Stanton House offers Holiday Igloos for families to enjoy this holiday season

El Paso, Texas-- San Jacinto Plaza just got a little bit cooler all thanks to Stanton Houses Igloo experience.

"We really came up with this idea during the holiday season because we just wanted to do something different for El Paso," said Rachel Mattison, General Manager for Stanton House, "El Paso has never experienced igloos because it never gets cold enough for igloos.”

Mattison is a midwest gal and she wanted to bring a little bit of that midwest experience to the borderland this holiday season.

"It's right next to the lights so people get the ambience of the lights and they get to spend an hour and a half to two hours in their igloos and enjoy some light bites, some cocktails and just be with families and friends,” said Mattison.

The Igloo dining experience has a food and beverage minimum and requires a deposit to reserve them. These costs are based on the day and time of reservation. Menu items are prepared by the head chef from Taft Diaz which is the restaurant located inside of Stanton House.

Stanton house’s igloo experience is just steps away from downtown’s Winterfest. These igloos provide guests with a safe and fun environment.

"The material is plastic and we did add turf to soften the space, and then we added lounge furniture in there as well, tables, we have lights and a radio so the guests can create their own environment inside of the igloos,” said Mattison, "We sanitize everything as well so I think that’s what our guests have liked as well is that we sanitize it right away."

Stanton House’s Igloo experience will continue through Valentine’s day and organizers are excited to continue this tradition for years to come.

"We want people to still enjoy the season because we've had a hard two years so we have been trying to get creative with what we can do for everyone to be safe and still have fun,” said Mattison.
