Community Champion: Clint basketball player reaches 2,000 point mark

The Clint Lions have been on a roll so far in the 2019 season, and for one Clint senior the season has been extra special.

Earlier this season at a tournament in San Antonio, Clint forward Jonathan Garcia reached the 2,000 point mark in his high school career.

Garcia says he didn't even know he was close to reaching it until his head coach, James Moreno, told him.

"He's like your 21 points away, and that was right before the tournament in San Antonio," Garcia said. "So we went up to San Antonio, and I finally met the mark, but I'm not done, I'm not done yet."

Garcia has played all four years on the varsity team for the Clint Lions.

The Lions are currently 7-2 this season, and they continue to impress with wins against 6A opponents Odessa Permian, Pebble Hills and Montwood.
