El Paso high school senior awarded a full-ride scholarship

EL PASO, TX (KVIA) -- One Borderland student, Helen De La Rosa, a senior at Loretto Academy, has been chosen as a QuestBridge Scholar finalist. The QuestBridge Match Scholarship offers high-achieving high school seniors from low-income backgrounds the opportunity to attend their dream colleges for free.

De La Rosa was one of the 6,000 out of 20,000 applicants selected as recipient of this prestigious scholarship. The scholarship values over $200,000 - covering tuition, housing, food, and additional expenses at one of QuestBridge's 50 prestigious college partners.

De La Rosa, a first-generation college student, plans to major in political science and proceed to law school with the goal of becoming a criminal prosecutor. Her dream school is Columbia University, where this scholarship will serve as a significant stepping stone.

She expressed her gratitude to her family, friends, and Loretto Academy for their support. "Loretto has given me so many opportunities, they've opened so many doors for me, giving me so much preparation for my future," she noted, highlighting the pivotal role her school has played in her journey.
