Sunday Funday: Heavenly Popsicles lets faith guide the way

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- On a hot afternoon, nothing hits quite like a cold popsicle. One El Paso couple makes popsicles as sweet as the story of how they got started.

"I believe that is, like, in my blood, in my veins. Like anything with a kitchen related. I have to be there," Betiska Campos, co-owner of Heavenly Popsicles, told ABC-7's Olivia Vara during the interview.

Betiska and George are devoted to making popsicles with real ingredients, right here in El Paso. 

"When she brought up this one, the Heavenly Popsicle, I just thought it was a great idea," said co-owner and husband George Arriola.

"I asked God to give me, this idea to start a new business...I woke up, like, one day in, like, a 3 a.m., and, I had this idea of, like, why don't I, sell popsicles?" said Betiska.

They started their business about six years ago in their kitchen. 

Since then, they've taken batches of handmade popsicles out to pop-up events and parks across the Borderland.

But what stands out most about these popsicles is the message inside. 

"We actually, incorporate different bible verses. so you will see the chapter, the verse and also the actual verse itself," said George.

For them, each popsicles carries a small piece of their family, culture and faith.

"We want to use our business to bring people to God and have that relationship with them. And it's just a great way to, yeah, a great way to use our business to serve god with others," George told ABC-7's Olivia Vara during the interview.
