Pebble Hills High School Marching Band Earns Spot at 2023 UIL State Championships

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — The Spartan marching band has secured a spot in the 2023 UIL State Marching Band Championship, set to take place on October 30 and 31.

At the Alamodome in San Antonio, the Pebble Hills band will compete against 43 high school marching bands from across Texas.

On October 30, the bands will participate in the preliminary performance round, with the top 12 advancing to the finals on October 31.

Maximo Sierra, the band director at Pebble Hills, commended the hard work and dedication of the students. The band of 242 members will present the show titled "Letter from the Heart," which revolves around a soldier named Daniel and his sweetheart, Sarah, exchanging letters during World War II.

Sierra, along with Cecil Crabtree and Maria Carbajal, will be directing the performance.

The last time Pebble Hills High School advanced to the state championships was in 2018, according to Maximo Sierra, and they are eager to showcase their talent on the state level once again.
